Frequently asked questions

Do I need modifications to see gains?

No.

These trucks respond extremely well even on stock hardware.

Bolt-on parts can support higher airflow and sustained output, but they are not required for a noticeable improvement in torque delivery, throttle response, and overall drivability.
Gains of 40-50hp are easy with no hardware changes.

Will tuning void my warranty?

Any ECU calibration has the potential to affect powertrain warranty coverage.

My approach is conservative and built around proper torque modeling and transmission behavior — not just increasing boost targets. The goal is improved drivability and performance while staying within the design intentions of Toyota’s control strategies.

If warranty concerns are important to you, feel free to reach out before ordering and we can talk through it.

Is this just increasing boost?

No.

Peak boost numbers don't tell the full story. The real improvement comes from:

  • Proper torque model calibration
  • Throttle mapping refinement
  • Transmission logic alignment
  • Boost control strategy optimization

It's about how the truck drives — not just a number.

Do you adjust transmission behavior?

Yes.

Shift timing, torque delivery during shifts, and gear interaction all affect drivability. My calibrations are designed so the engine and transmission work together properly.

The result is smoother shifts, stronger midrange feel, and better overall control.

I’ve built my entire tuning process around the COBB ecosystem for nearly 15 years.

The Accessport provides:

Can I return the truck to stock?

Yes.

The COBB Accessport stores your factory calibration during installation. At any time, you can uninstall the Accessport and return the vehicle fully to its original stock software.

The process takes only a few minutes and does not require a dealer visit.

What is the return policy?

In some cases, an Accessport device may be returned if it has not been installed and no tuning files have been sent. Eligible returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
